The Mosaic Company Recognized Globally in Annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens List

March 02, 2010

Sample PicMosaic has been recognized in the Corporate Responsibility Magazine 11th annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens List, known as the world’s top corporate responsibility ranking based on publicly available information.

Mosaic received its 45th global ranking in part due to its conservation and environmental stewardship as well as its financial and governance transparency. Mosaic’s accomplishments include: recycling 95 percent of all water used in its Phosphates business, generating nearly 100 percent of its Brazilian power from hydroelectric sources and operating with exceptional transparency in financial reporting and governance.

“Mosaic’s inclusion in this global best corporate citizen list is the result of the combined efforts of more than 7,000 of our employees worldwide. Everyone at Mosaic is committed to providing best-in-class performance to our customers and the communities in which we do business,” said Linda Thrasher, Mosaic Vice President of Public Affairs. “We take this acknowledgement from Corporate Responsibility Magazine as a challenge to raise the bar as we continue operating our business as a responsible corporate leader.”

Mosaic’s listing is based on more than 360 data points in seven categories, including: environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial performance and governance.  The 100 Best Corporate Citizens list’s open and transparent methodology is governed by a Methodology Committee of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association (CROA).

“Company stakeholders—from investors to customers to employees to regulators— watch the 100 Best Corporate Citizens List closely, and are using it now more than ever to make important decisions,” said Corporate Responsibility Magazine publisher Jay Whitehead.  “That is why we are seeing leading companies focusing in greater numbers on their public reporting and performance, particularly in the areas of climate change, environment, employee relations and human rights.”

The 100 Best Corporate Citizens are selected from among the large-cap Russell 1000 companies, based on data provided by investor data firm IW Financial.
