Potash Expansion Program
About Our Potash Expansion Program
Driven by our goal of becoming the world’s best crop nutrition company, we look to lead the way toward a more productive and prosperous tomorrow – one that will benefit us all. We remain committed to helping the world grow the food it needs, and growth continues to be our guiding force.
Mosaic faces long-term demand prospects that are positive and persistent. Global population and personal income growth trends in developing countries will mean increased demand for higher-quality agricultural products – specifically Potash – in the decades ahead.
With that in mind, in 2006, Mosaic embarked on a multi-million dollar expansion project in Saskatchewan. Our Expansion Program consists of multi-year projects at each of our three Canadian mine sites – Belle Plaine, Colonsay and Esterhazy – and will leverage existing facilities and infrastructure at our mines – mines that possess a century’s worth of potash reserves. We anticipate our expansion efforts, which involve almost a dozen distinct projects, will raise our annual nameplate capacity by 50 percent, while also increasing operational capability to 15 million tonnes by 2021 – further reinforcing our position as one of the world’s leading potash companies.
We are committed to excellence – in Saskatchewan and beyond – by fulfilling our strategic priority to grow potash. We’re growing our potash business. We’re growing our employee base and we’re playing an important role in helping communities grow.
