Grand Opening of Mosaic’s Candeias Plant in Brazil
We recently expanded our Candeias plant in Brazil, increasing our production and storage capacity.
Mosaic’s focus to better address the increasing global demand of agricultural resources has sparked growth in countries around the world. In Brazil, Mosaic recently celebrated the grand opening of its expanded Candeias plant in the state of Bahia.
The opening ceremony was held February 13, 2014, and was attended by Mosaic employees, community partners, customers and government authorities.
The new plant has 136,702 square feet of building area, which is almost double the original size. Following this expansion, the plant will be able to process 300,000 metric tons a year and store 61,000 metric tons.
Expanding Mosaic’s ability to supply potash and phosphate in Brazil
From providing an improved infrastructure and work environment to refining the quality of the product—the expansion of the facility will help Mosaic better respond to the growing demand of potash and phosphate in Brazil.
“The expansion of the Candeias site is the result of the positive performance the Brazilian agribusiness has enjoyed, and the growing demand of the Northeastern Region in the industrial and fertilizer industry,” said Tobias Grasso, Country Manager of Brazil. “The new and modern facilities will leverage Mosaic’s business and bring a positive impact to our customer service.”
