Phosphatic Fertilizer Solution (PFS)
Phosphoric Acid (H3PO4) is manufactured by treating phosphate rock with sulfuric acid and is called wet process acid. The agricultural grade acid is used in the manufacture of liquid fertilizer, but it can also be applied as a fertilizer by injection into the soil or into irrigation water. The use of soil applied phosphoric acid is primarily limited to alkaline and calcareous soil areas. This method of application requires special handling and equipment. Almost all wet acid is used in the manufacture of other phosphate fertilizers.
