Sample Pic Mosaic recently donated $82,000 to Feeding America Tampa Bay as a result of the Home Runs for Food partnership with the Tampa Bay Rays. Under the three-year commitment announced at the start of the 2010 season, Mosaic is contributing $500 to the food bank for every home run hit by the Rays during their regular season games to help feed hungry families in the region.
“Mosaic’s core mission is helping the world grow the food it needs, and Home Runs for Food is a natural extension of that mission. We are pleased that our support will help those in local communities who need it most,” said Bo Davis, Mosaic vice president of Phosphate Operations.

"The Rays are proud to partner with Mosaic to promote this terrific program and to assist in spotlighting the critical services Feeding America Tampa Bay provides,” said Rays Senior Vice President Mark Fernandez.

“Thanks to this unique program, Feeding America Tampa Bay has added and expanded hunger relief programs throughout our 10-county service area to increase the availability of food assistance in needy neighborhoods,” said Pat Rogers, the food bank’s executive director.  “Mosaic’s generous donation will also help us meet the growing need among the new poor—families hardest hit by the area’s stagnant unemployment rates. We are grateful to Mosaic and the Rays for teaming up to help us end hunger in our community.”

According to a 2009 USDA report on food insecurity, one in six Americans is at risk of hunger.  From 2007 to 2008, the number of Americans considered food insecure increased by 13 million people.  Feeding America is annually providing food to 37 million Americans, including 14 million children.  In Tampa Bay, Feeding America provides food for more than 409,000 residents each year.

Mosaic is committed to investing in its home communities.  Each year, Mosaic contributes more than $5 million to Florida charitable organizations including Feeding America, United Way, Florida Audubon Society and numerous other environmental, agricultural, educational and human service organizations.
