In an increasingly competitive reporting environment, these five leading achievements have helped Mosaic earn a spot on the CR100 list for five consecutive years.

With employees working together across geographies, Mosaic has proven capable of innovating to improve the way we do business. We work hard to ensure that our standards for excellence and performance are top-of-the-line—even compared to other global corporations.

We’re proud to share that we’ve been named among the “100 Best Corporate Citizens” by Corporate Responsibility Magazine, known as one of the world's top corporate responsibility rankings based on publicly available information. This is the fifth consecutive year Mosaic has been recognized on the CR100 list, and we are the only company in the crop nutrition industry to currently be listed.

"Our commitment to excellence brings value to our customers, our shareholders, and our neighbors in communities where we operate—and pride to our employees," said Lawrence Stranghoener, Interim Chief Executive Officer, The Mosaic Company. “We’re told it’s more difficult than ever to remain on this list, because other companies are also striving to improve their performance. This recognition reflects the excellence of our workforce, our focus on sustainability, and our overall business performance."

Mosaic ranked No. 53 this year, compared to No. 52 in 2013. Our scores in four categories—environment, human rights, employee relations and philanthropy—are in the top 2 percent of Russell 1000 companies, which are evaluated for the “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list.

Five Leading Corporate Social Responsibility Achievements:

  1. Commitment to transparency – Mosaic reports to an A+ level of disclosure via the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which indicates the company is explicit about material sustainability metrics, achievements and challenges.
  2. External verification – Mosaic receives external verification of data subsets in areas such as energy, water, emissions and waste.
  3. Safety and environmental incident rates – Mosaic’s commitment to safety permeates our company culture, and includes both full-time and contract employees.
  4. Engagement levels with stakeholders – We seek out and listen to the full range of voices in our workplaces and our communities worldwide, including local community advisory panels in the counties where we operate our Florida phosphate facilities and offices.
  5. Philanthropy – Mosaic aims to invest 1 percent of earnings into our communities. The Mosaic Company, The Mosaic Company Foundation and The Mosaic Institute in Brazil together invested $27.16 million in 2013 in the communities where we live and work.

Mosaic's “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list ranking is based on 300 data points in seven categories, including environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial performance and governance.
