The Mosaic Company Foundation has partnered with South Florida Museum in support of their Connect Campaign, providing the organization with a donation towards a new exhibit called The Mosaic Backyard Universe.

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with South Florida Museum,” said Mark Kaplan, Board President of The Mosaic Company Foundation and Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at The Mosaic Company. “The Museum provides invaluable access to science education and Florida’s rich cultural history. We appreciate the Museum’s efforts to expand this community cornerstone’s offerings for families in Manatee County and across the region.”

The Mosaic Backyard Universe

The Mosaic Backyard Universe will be a two-story interactive education exhibit for children ages 2-8 and families. Designed to be a familiar setting – a backyard, the exhibit focuses on science, technology, engineering and math concepts through hands-on activities.

Additional Components to the Connect Campaign

  • The Commons: a new lobby/gathering space, museum store, and café
  • Renovation of existing exhibition areas
  • Pathways Program Development, which will integrate technology into public programs and student field trips
  • Planetarium technology upgrades
  • Relocation of administration, education, and facilities departments

As of January 2015, the South Florida Museum Connect Campaign has raised more than 80% of their $12 million goal, which includes Mosaic’s lead gift of $1.3 million—ensuring that the museum remains a vital link in the cultural and educational fabric of Florida’s gulf coast communities.
