Joc O’Rourke, President and CEO of The Mosaic Company as of August 5, 2015

On Wednesday, August 5, 2015, we welcomed Joc O’Rourke as our new President and CEO – following predecessor, Jim Prokopanko’s retirement. For six years, O’Rourke worked alongside Prokopanko and our Senior Leadership Team as Mosaic’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. Now he moves into our global company’s leading role.

"I am grateful for the support of the Board of Directors and my exceptional colleagues on Mosaic's management team,” O'Rourke said. “We have a solid foundation, excellent financial strength, a compelling mission, and the best talent in the industry. As CEO, I am confident that we will leverage these strengths as we continue building our industry leadership in the years ahead.”

O’Rourke began his career at Mosaic in 2009. He is our company’s third executive to hold the CEO role since Mosaic was formed in 2004.

“My immediate goal is to connect with and seek input from as many of our stakeholders as possible, while executing our current plan,” O’Rourke said. “Mosaic has never stood still. We will continue to test our thinking and our strategic plans to ensure Mosaic reaches its full potential.”

On August 4, 2015, O’Rourke spoke with investors on Mosaic’s Second Quarter 2015 Earnings webcast. He emphasized that Mosaic is:

  • Generating significant value from strategic initiatives;
  • Positioning on the left-hand side of the global cost curves;
  • Integrating its acquisitions well; and
  • Returning substantial capital to our shareholders.

“We have developed a highly resilient model for softer parts of the business cycle and we are beginning to demonstrate substantial earnings leverage in good markets,” O’Rourke said. “There will be much more to come from Mosaic, and I look forward to discussing our strategy with you in the months and years ahead.”
