James T. Prokopanko, President and Chief Executive Officer
James T. Prokopanko became our President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2007.
Mr. Prokopanko joined Mosaic as our Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in July 2006. Previously, he was a Corporate Vice President at Cargill, Incorporated where he had executive responsibility for procurement and served as a leader of the Cargill Ag Producer Services Platform. After joining Cargill in 1978, he served in a wide range of leadership positions, including Vice President of the North American crop inputs business. During his Cargill career, Mr. Prokopanko was engaged in retail agriculture businesses in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Argentina and the United Kingdom. In addition to his role as President and CEO of Mosaic, Mr. Prokopanko serves on the Board of Directors for Mosaic, Canpotex, the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, The Fertilizer Institute and the International Plant Nutrition Institute. Norman B. Beug, Senior Vice President, Potash Operations
Norman B. Beug previously served as the Vice President and General Manager of IMC Global, Inc.'s potash business unit.
Mr. Beug began his career in the potash industry in 1977 and has held many supervisory and management positions over the years, including General Manager of IMC's Belle Plaine potash facility. Mr. Beug is a past president of The Saskatchewan Mining Association (SMA) and a past chairman of the Canadian Fertilizer Institute (CFI). He currently serves as the director of the CFI and the Saskatchewan Potash Producers Association (SPPA). Mr. Beug holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.Richard L. Mack, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Richard L. Mack has served as Mosaic's General Counsel since its launch in 2004.
In the decade prior to Mosaic's formation he served in various legal capacities at Cargill, Incorporated and assisted in the start up of Cargill Ventures. At Mosaic, Mr. Mack also provides executive oversight to Mosaic's Land Development and Permitting organizations. Mr. Mack has significant experience in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and equity transactions. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar and the Society of Governance Professionals. Mr. Mack holds a B.S. degree in accounting from Minnesota State University-Moorhead, a Juris Doctor degree from Hamline University School of Law, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.Richard N. Richard (Rick) N. McLellan previously served as Vice President, North American Sales for The Mosaic Company.
Prior to serving as North America Sales leader, he was the Country Manager for Mosaic Fertilizantes in Brazil and for Cargill, Incorporated's fertilizer business. Before serving as Country Manager, Mr. McLellan had leadership responsibility for fertilizer distribution, import and production in Brazil. Prior to his work in Brazil, he held various roles in Cargill's Canadian and U.S. operations, including grain, retail and wholesale fertilizer distribution. Mr. McLellan began his career in Ontario, Canada with American Cyanamid in 1978. He is a graduate of Brock University in St. Catharine's, Ontario.James "Joc" O’Rourke, Executive Vice President, Operations
James (Joc) O'Rourke joined Mosaic as Executive Vice President, Operations in January 2009.
Previously, Mr. O'Rourke was President, Australia Pacific for Barrick Gold, the largest gold producer in Australia. He was responsible for the Australia Pacific Business Unit consisting of gold and copper mines in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Mr. O'Rourke has more than 25 years of experience in both mining and processing operations and has held senior management roles in Canada, Papua New Guinea and Australia. He holds a B.S. in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada and an Executive MBA from the INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.Cindy C. Redding, Vice President, Human Resources
Cindy C. Redding joined Mosaic as our Vice President, Human Resources in July 2007.
Previously, Ms. Redding was Vice President of Human Resources for MDU Resources Group, Inc., a $5 billion diversified energy and natural resources company, and served as a member of its executive management team. Ms. Redding has over 27 years of international and domestic human resources experience in varied industries, including energy, health care and packaging. Prior to MDU Resources, Ms. Redding worked for bp Amoco, Abbott Laboratories and Sonoco Products Company. She holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas and a master's degree in human resources management from Houston Baptist University, Houston, Texas.Lawrence W. Stranghoener, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Lawrence W. Stranghoener joined Mosaic in September 2004 from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans where he had been Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer since 2001.
Prior to that, Mr. Stranghoener spent 17 years at Honeywell Inc. where he served in a variety of positions in the U.S. and in Europe, including three years as Chief Financial Officer until Honeywell merged with AlliedSignal in 1999. Mr. Stranghoener started his career as an Investment Analyst at Dain Rauscher. He is a director of Kennametal Inc. Larry holds a B.A. degree from St. Olaf College and an MBA from Northwestern University.Linda K. Thrasher, Vice President, Public Affairs
Linda Thrasher previously served as the director of Public Policy for Cargill, Incorporated's Washington, D.C. office.
She has handled extensive legislative and regulatory issues for Cargill's fertilizer, salt and steel businesses and has spent significant time working on environmental and trade issues. Prior to joining Cargill in 1994, Ms. Thrasher worked for Congressman Jim Nussle (R-IA) on agriculture, trade and environmental matters, and also served as legal counsel for Congressman Fred Grandy (R-IA). She holds a B.A. degree from the College of St. Catherine (St. Paul, Minnesota) and a Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law.MSDS Quick Finder
