Employee Engagement

Employee Engagement Because community investment is a vital part of Mosaic's identity, and we know giving back to the community is characteristic of outstanding citizens and well-rounded employees, many Mosaic employees donate their time, expertise and financial support to nonprofit organizations such as the United Way, Rebuilding Together, the Mosaic Coastal Education Center and Character Links. Our employees also serve on boards of directors of nonprofit organizations. Mosaic is committed to supporting its employees' efforts to enrich communities all around the world.

United Way
When it comes to fundraising, one of the organizations we strongly support is the United Way. Mosaic has a strong tradition of annual employee campaigns. Each year since our first campaign in 2005, we have continued to build on this tradition. Mosaic employees understand that their donations to the United Way, whether large or small, improve the lives of those in need and strengthen the communities in which they live and work. In the 2008 campaign, Hooked on Giving, Mosaic employees donated $1.4 million that will be matched dollar for dollar by Mosaic. Mosaic once again won the Spirit of Tampa Award from the United Way of Tampa Bay, and Plymouth once again won Best in Show from the Greater Twin Cities United Way. In addition, both of our facilities in Louisiana had 100% participation.

In Our Communities
The Mosaic Village Team was formed in early 2008 in response to the growing international food crisis. The team is currently supporting three projects to help combat extreme hunger in India, Africa and Guatemala. With our financial support and crop nutrition donations, we are improving irrigation infrastructure, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and providing agronomic advice to some of the poorest farmers in the world. The first crop in Guatemala showed great results. Yields increased from one metric tonne per hectare to approximately 4 metric tonnes per hectare.
