Mosaic has been informed that results of radiological testing conducted at nine water wells located in close proximity to Mosaic’s New Wales facility have all returned results that are within normal drinking water standards.

The samples collected by ECT, a third-party environmental consulting firm, were submitted to a third-party laboratory that reported levels of Gross Alpha in all of the water wells tested are within health-based drinking water standards established by U.S. EPA and Florida DEP. As set forth in DEP’s standards, where Gross Alpha measurements meet drinking water standards, the analysis of radium is not necessary.

The wells are within a three to five-mile radius of the New Wales facility and are located west of the facility, the direction the Floridan aquifer flows.

These results further verify that there have been no offsite impacts as a result of this incident.

To date, the company has additionally completed testing of pH, conductivity, turbidity, sodium, sulfate, fluoride and total dissolved solids in 139 wells, with all showing normal results.

Mosaic continues testing water wells and providing bottled water as a means to alleviate concerns and provide peace of mind to residents of our community. We will also continue to test monitoring wells on our property on an ongoing basis to continuously ensure there are no offsite impacts.

Daily Well Testing Update

As of today, Mosaic has received 690 well water test requests. Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. (ECT) is prioritizing testing based on neighbor’s proximity to the New Wales facility. Neighbors who have requested an alternative means of testing are encouraged to receive a water test at no cost from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
