Why we invest in our communities
On a global level - As a global leader in crop nutrition, we sit at the nexus of two of the worlds’ most pressing problems - food security and water scarcity. We feel it is our responsibility to bring our financial resources, expertise and an innovative spirit to the table, helping the world grow the food it needs through strategic partnerships with innovative organizations.
On a local level - At Mosaic, we understand that the sustainability of our business and our communities are indelibly linked. Our communities are also our homes - where we live, work and raise children. We strive to be a thoughtful and engaged neighbor who invests carefully and generously and seeks long-term partnerships with organizations that are making a difference.
Mosaic aims to invest 1 percent of profits on a three year rolling average into our communities. The Mosaic Company, The Mosaic Company Foundation and The Mosaic Institute in Brazil together invested $16 million in 2015 in the communities where we live and work.
We are a committed funder and seek partners with a track record of creating innovative and impactful programs. We understand the financial realities of running a nonprofit organization and allow a percentage of each investment to be used for general operating expenses. Mosaic is an ethical company and takes great care to not discriminate in our funding considerations or decisions based on, but not limited to, gender, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientations and national origin. Although it is not the norm, Mosaic will consider capital or multi-year requests if appropriate. We invest through cash grants, product donations, expertise, workplace giving and the time and talent of our employees.
Mosaic’s policy is never to discriminate in our funding considerations or decisions based on, but not limited to, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religious beliefs, marital status, or on any other unfair basis. Partner organizations must attest in the online grant application process that their organization does not have written policies, advocate for, support, and/or have practices to discriminate. Grant applications are only accepted from organizations that attest to non-discrimination.
Where we fund
We primarily fund where we have facilities and offices. Secondarily, from time-to-time, we also consider partnerships in areas where we have sales and customer relationships.
